“When I was a boy and would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’” – Fred Rogers
In times of disaster, everyone has to do their part. That means social distancing for some, but just the opposite for others. Think of the helpers, the essential workers in our community who don’t miss a beat, even in these unprecedented times. Many are also juggling another essential role — as parents.
Since the spread of COVID-19 reached the United States, Flexable has continued to support partnerships across the City of Pittsburgh and potentially around the country to keep kids safe and happy while their parents keep the community functioning.
For hospitals and first responders, sanitation and food bank workers among others, we’re currently working to create new pop-up child care facilities in safe available spaces — on-site — so that those workers can keep our community safe and functioning.
Additionally, health and safety at our sites continues to be a top priority. Right now, our caregivers are taking additional, proactive steps to help contain and prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other seasonal illnesses. We’ve reinforced our safety protocols with caregivers and are providing extra sanitizing equipment to keep surfaces — and hands — clean.
We remain committed to creating a safe environment for our partners and parents, kids and caregivers, and are working tirelessly to continue to provide credentialed child care for those who need it most at this time.
